For the last 15 years Gamba has been recognised by the AA Hotel and Restaurant Inspectors. We are pleased to share that for this year:  2014/2015 we have yet again retained our two AA rosette award for culinary excellence.


What is an AA Rosette?

The long-established Rosette scheme recognises successful cooking at different levels across the UK. Success or failure in achieving Rosettes is based on one or more visits by an AA inspector to a hotel or restaurant.

How the AA assess for Rosettes

The AA’s Rosette award scheme was the first nationwide scheme for assessing the quality of food served by restaurants and hotels. The Rosette scheme is an award, not a classification, and although there is necessarily an element of subjectivity when it comes to assessing taste, we aim for a consistent approach throughout the UK. Our awards are made solely on the basis of a meal visit or visits by one or more of our hotel and restaurant inspectors, who have unrivalled breadth and depth of experience in assessing quality. They award Rosettes annually on a rising scale of one to five.

What is the criteria for two AA Rosettes?

Excellent restaurants that aim for and achieve higher standards and better consistency. A greater precision is apparent in the cooking, and there will be obvious attention to the selection of quality ingredients. Around 40% of restaurants/hotels within our AA Restaurant Guide have Two Rosettes.
