#RememberACharityWeek Fishermen's Mission

As it's #RememberACharityWeek we wanted to share our plans for the wonderful charities that we are proud to support! September sees the end of our fundraising drive for the STV Appeal to help prevent child poverty in Scotland and the beginning of our support for Scottish fishermen.

Danger On The Seas

Fishing remains the most dangerous peacetime occupation in the UK and with staff all around the coastline, The Fishermen’s Mission is there to offer practical, financial and welfare support to both active and retired fishermen; day or night, responding to emergencies at sea or desperate situations on land. It's for that reason that we are once again lending our support for this dedicated maritime charity.

Scottish Fishermen's Mission

The Scottish Fishermen’s Mission centre in Troon look after fishermen coming into ports from Annan in the south along the coast to Stranraer and up as far as Greenock. From Greenock they join with the Campbeltown Fishermen's Mission representative and it then goes up as far as Oban. With the money raised by Gamba, Scottish fishermen in the West Coast will benefit from the centre investing in more life-saving equipment including personal flotation devices (lifejackets), oilskins, boots and emergency food supplies.

Gamba and the Fishermen's Mission

Throughout October, November and December we will be adding a discretionary £1 to bills and hosting a four course charity dinner on Wednesday, October 28th from 7pm to raise funds for our Scottish fishing community. We will be celebrating our recent Seafood Restaurant of The Year title and‪#‎seafoodweek‬ with proceeds from the evening going towards The Fishermen's Mission. To view our Seafood Celebration Dinner Menu for The Fishermen's Mission click here. The menu features different Scottish seafood varieties from mackerel to Isle of Gigha Halibut to some of our customer favourites like our Fish Soup - 'Foup'. We do hope you can join us to help us both celebrate and fundraise.
